DESTAR is a Center for Study, Research and Archive of Fine Art and Culture. This center is symbolized by a distinctive traditional Balinese headband that covers and protect the head (mind) where knowledge and wisdom rest.
In its development, DESTAR is envisioned to become a laboratory of Balinese and, in general, Indonesian culture. As indicated by the symbol - headband worn on the head, this center will be the center for the managing and creating intellectual, conceptual knowledge related to the culture as reflected in the art (painting and sculpture), performing arts (dance) and all other art forms. DESTAR is committed to further strengthen the preservation and development of Indonesian art at Museum Rudana and its subsidiaries. Inaugurated in 2009 by Mr Joop Ave and witnessed by association of rectors (university heads), DESTAR has been active in planning art activities within the Rudanas. |
