UBUD, Bali, Nov 18, 2001. Museum Rudana has been appointed as the
venue for the Spouse Programme (Friday/18) for the the wives of U.N.
Secretary General Mrs. Ban Soon-taek, Korean President Mrs. Kim Yoon-ok,
Indian PM Mrs. Gursharan Kaur, Singapore PM Mrs. Hong Chin, Cambodian
PM Mrs. Bun Rany Hun Sen and U.N. Secretary General Khun Alissa and The
first lady of Vietnam Mrs. Tran Thanh Kiem who specially received very warm
welcome from the cheering children, man and women in their traditional
clothes amidst their artistic activities.
The highlight of the Spouse Programme was when the spouses of the ASEAN
leaders and the UN Secretary General proceeded to put on their signatures
on the Inscription entitled Glorifying Sincere Devotion of the Mother
symbolizing a recognition of dedication for the mother of the country’s
towards her people and for hope for their contribution towards children and
women equality and empowerment and world peace. The Spouse
Programme, hosted by the Indonesian First Lady Ani Yudhoyono aims at
cementing intercultural bridge amongst the ASEAN countries and beyond
through total spiritual, artistic and cultural diplomacy which is the philosophy
of Museum Rudana.
Boasting top-notch 400 permanent collection of finest art from Bali –
Indonesian maestros, and over 10.000 pieces of artwork, Museum Rudana
has been the most comprehensive Museum in Indonesia that starts to see
Vietnamese visitors to its venue. Mr. Putu Supadma Rudana, the President of
the Museum lead the First Ladies to inspect the collection and to the majestic
building. Mrs. Tranh Tanh Kiem paid serious observation to the artwork as she
strolled around the venue. “We are exceptionally happy to host The
Vietnamese first lady of Vietnam Mrs. Tran Thanh Kiem who has cemented
the cultural bridge between Indonesia and Vietnam by signing the
Inscription. Now the Vietnamese people can see witness her signature
specially carved by our master carver on this huge rock”, he comments. On
the occasion Mrs. Tran Thanh Kiem presented a small token from Vietnam – a
beautiful lacquer as an exchange for the Dewi Sita plaque and Dewi
